Benefits of Massage and Types of Massage Offered

Dr. Judy Auerbach, Ed.D., LMT, was born and raised in Southern California, where she attended university and raised her family. Judy became a special education teacher and taught severely emotional and physically challenged children. She retired in 2002 after teaching for 20 years. Judy also taught freshman and sophomore writing at the college level in both San Diego and Los Angeles.

During Dr. Auerbach's career, she helped countless children and their families by providing compassionate care within the school and home environment. As a special education teacher, Judy was given permission by the parents to try methods that might be considered untraditional. One of these methods was the incorporation of acupressure and foot and hand massage with her students. It became apparent to her that the child's state of mind and emotional well-being could be enhanced with hands-on healing before and after the traditional teaching lesson.

Judy's heart was touched in a number of ways by her students and their determination to succeed, which is one reason she felt it necessary to complete her doctorate degree and make better use of her talents.

Dr. Auerbach's goal in life has been to help alleviate suffering in the world. As a 15 year old, she spent her spring vacation volunteering with other service-minded people in Los Angeles helping to set up Head Start Day Care Centers after the Watts riots. She was brought up to believe that anything is possible when it incorporates compassion aligned with positive thinking. These two principles became Judy's touchstone and have been her guiding light throughout her life.

Judy's hope, her dream, is that AHAVAH MASSAGE & WELLNESS CENTER, which means "love" in Hebrew, will bring compassionate care and healing to all.
